What is MYLANTA® Classic?
In response to strong consumer demand, Johnson &
Johnson · Merck brings back the heartburn, acid
indigestion, gas, and upset stomach relief of MYLANTA®
Classic in MYLANTA® Regular and Maximum strength
liquids. Featuring the original classic taste of MYLANTA®
that consumers prefer, it is identical to the original
MYLANTA® and contains the same active ingredients
as the currently available MYLANTA® products.
How is MYLANTA® Classic different
from the liquid Mylanta products currently available?
MYLANTA® Classic is currently available in MYLANTA®
Regular and Maximum Strength liquid. They have different
preservative systems. While the Mylanta Classic label
states that the preservative does not meet USP standards,
both systems are safe and effective when used as directed
and MYLANTA® Classic has the taste that consumers prefer.
Does MYLANTA® Classic work
better than the other MYLANTA® products currently
available?
MYLANTA® Classic provides the same fast, effective
relief of heartburn, acid indigestion, and gas as the
other MYLANTA® liquid products. You can be assured
that MYLANTA® Classic is safe and effective when
used as directed.
How should the liquid MYLANTA®
Antacid/Anti-Gas liquids be stored? Do they require
refrigeration?
Regular Strength MYLANTA® Antacid/Anti-Gas liquid
and Maximum Strength MYLANTA® Antacid/Anti-Gas liquid
should be stored at room temperature. This remedy does
not require refrigeration. As the package label states,
"Do not freeze," since this will cause breakdown
of the suspension.
Can I give MYLANTA® to children
with heartburn, acid indigestion, or upset stomach?
Most MYLANTA® products are formulated for adults.
In these cases, the package label will clearly state,
"Children under 12: Ask a doctor." Fortunately,
we offer Children's MYLANTA® chewable tablets, a
heartburn and acid indigestion remedy specially formulated
to be safe, gentle, and effective for kids.
How is MYLANTA® Supreme heartburn
remedy different from traditional liquid antacids?
MYLANTA® Supreme is the first and only liquid heartburn
remedy formulated without the ingredients that give
other liquid antacids their chalky taste. That's why
MYLANTA® Supreme has no chalky aftertaste, just
a smooth, light taste and texture that goes down easily.
What will happen if I drink water
when taking MYLANTA®?
Drinking water with or after taking MYLANTA® liquid
will not affect how quickly or efficiently the product
will treat your heartburn or stomach discomfort.
Can I use MYLANTA® for more
than 2 weeks if I am not using the full dose?
If you have heartburn, acid indigestion, or sour stomach
continuously for more than 2 weeks—whether or not you
are taking the full dose—we recommend that you speak
to your physician or pharmacist to determine whether
MYLANTA® is appropriate for your condition.
I am currently taking another drug.
May I also use MYLANTA® while taking that drug?
Antacids may interact with certain prescription drugs.
If you are presently taking a prescription drug, do
not take any heartburn remedy without checking with
your doctor or pharmacist.
Can I use MYLANTA® if I have
heartburn while pregnant or nursing?
Yes. MYLANTA® offers safe relief when the hormonal
and physical changes of pregnancy bring on heartburn.
But remember, you should always ask your doctor before
taking any medicine when you are pregnant or nursing.
